Modern metal artists Bob and Meredith Gwynn create one of a kind metal designs that can be seen all over the southeast.
Each one of a kind piece is created at their studio in Greenville, SC. There is a variety of color in the work, mostly from a heating process that bring out the natural colors of the metals.
The pieces are created by brazing various types of metals and mixed medias. The colors are evoked by using heat and a painting process on copper, brass and steel to create bright colors.
The urban designs are created to have a more modern look. The 'abstract' is the most common design. All abstract wall pieces are one of a kind; no two pieces are ever the same. They are made of aluminum, brass, steel, ceramic tile, geodes, and many other media.
They are 42 inches long and 32 inches wide. They
weigh around 7 pounds and can be hung by one nail.
There are larger versions available that are 5 feet long and 3 feet wide.
The coast of South Carolina has always been a deep source of inspiration for Meredith, both as an artist and as a person. From vacations as a child to art shows as a professional, she truly relishes any opportunity to be near the ocean.
This lifelong love of her native beaches and her time living and studying on the coast of Australia, has provided a tremendous source of creative motivation for Meredith’s artwork. She has incorporated themes and inspirations from beaches all over the world. No matter where you are, you’re sure to feel the ocean breeze in any the pieces from this collection.
These pieces are influenced by traditional Italian culture and design, along with personal experiences in everyday Italian life.
The abstract pieces incorporate the rustic feel of Italy and have blue geodes that are reminiscent of the Mediterranean waves off the Italian Coast.
The pieces “Vino Bottiglia e Bicchieri”, Italian for Wine Bottle and Glasses, contain actual wine labels from imported Italian wines. These pieces convey a more rustic feel, as if weathered under the Tuscan Sun. Whether it be texture, color, shape, or origin, every aspect of these abstracts is of Italian inspiration.
MEREDITH GWYNN
Although young, Meredith has extensive experience in the field and has developed a passion for metal art. Meredith'’s father, Bob Gwynn, is a lifelong metal artist whose name and work are recognized throughout the Southeast. With Bob as a guide, Meredith began working in the studio as a young child.
After graduating from Clemson University with a degree in Marketing in 2009, Meredith began working full-time as a metal artist. Having lived and studied on three continents, Meredith has gained inspiration from a wide variety of places and experiences. Most recently, Meredith lived in Milan, Italy, where she studied design and built a concept portfolio which inspired her new line of designs entitled ‘Italia’. In her spare time, Meredith enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and playing with her 2 year old Weimaraner, Truman.
BOB GWYNN
After returning from a tour in Vietnam in 1972, Bob took a welding course to learn a skill before deciding to go back to college. One day on a power plant job, Bob cut a butterfly out of a plate of steel. 40 years later, he has produced hundreds of metal designs ranging from nature designs, water fountains, and furniture. His work has been shown at over 800 major art shows and fairs throughout the south, especially Florida.
